Database Administrator

We are seeking a Database Administrator (DBA) who is responsible for monitoring, performance, documentation, and scale of the database infrastructure at vMOX. The DBA will lead design and implementation decisions.

Opportunity

A successful DBA will be able to provide tools to the team (developers) as well as customers (internal and external users) to deliver reporting, monitor multiple database platforms, ensure uptime and reliability of the databases, and provide support in case of emergencies. The DBA will be expected to have strong working relationships with other departments within the company throughout the development process and application lifecycle of both internally developed and vendor supported applications. Our ideal candidate has a great attitude, is a solution-driven problem solver, and knows how to work in a fun team environment as well as independently.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and improve performance of production SQL servers
  • Troubleshoot slow running queries / stored procedures
  • Suggest solutions to overcome issues and solve future initiatives
  • Monitor and compare network and resource utilization of SQL servers for abnormalities
  • Document SQL standards
  • Work with IT and development teams to ensure optimal performance of the applications

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience administrating SQL servers
  • 1 year experience with JavaScript, JQuery, HTML5, and CSS3
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server
  • Understanding of T-SQL queries
  • Understanding if relational database theory and implementations
  • Experience with SSRS and SSIS
  • Experience with high availability and disaster recovery techniques
  • Understanding of security best practices for data protection
  • Strong desire to learn and stay on top of emerging technologies
  • Experience with Designing, Building and Managing Data Warehouses is a plus, but not required
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements for Data Protection (SOC, PCI, GDPR, ISO, NIST, etc) is a plus, but not required
